- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sift together cake flour and 3/4 cup of sugar.
- In a large bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and salt, then beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gradually add remaining sugar, one tablespoon at a time.
- Fold in flour mixture gently.
- Add vanilla and almond extracts.
- Pour batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Invert the pan and cool completely before removing the cake.
Notes
- Use fresh egg whites for best results.
- Do not grease the pan to allow the cake to rise properly.
- Serve with fresh berries for added flavor.
