valentines angel food cake: 7 Reasons to Fall in Love

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 12 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift together cake flour and 3/4 cup of sugar.
  3. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
  4. Add cream of tartar and salt, then beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gradually add remaining sugar, one tablespoon at a time.
  6. Fold in flour mixture gently.
  7. Add vanilla and almond extracts.
  8. Pour batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Invert the pan and cool completely before removing the cake.

Notes

  • Use fresh egg whites for best results.
  • Do not grease the pan to allow the cake to rise properly.
  • Serve with fresh berries for added flavor.
