Ingredients

- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur
- 24 ladyfingers
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale.
- Heat milk in a saucepan and gradually add to the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
- Cook over low heat until thickened, then remove from heat.
- Let the mixture cool, then fold in mascarpone cheese.
- In another bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form and fold into the mascarpone mixture.
- Combine coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
- Dip ladyfingers briefly in the coffee mixture and layer them in a dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat layers, finishing with the mascarpone mixture.
- Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur.
- You can use decaffeinated coffee if preferred.
- Adjust sugar according to your taste.
