Irresistible Meatballs in Tomato, Cardamom & Lime Sauce – 40 Min Magic

Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Mix ground meat, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a pan and brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add crushed tomatoes, cardamom, lime juice, and sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Return meatballs to the pan and cook for 15-20 minutes until fully done.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust cardamom to taste.
  • Serve with rice or flatbread.
