Ingredients

- 500g ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 tsp sugar
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Mix ground meat, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a pan and brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add crushed tomatoes, cardamom, lime juice, and sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Return meatballs to the pan and cook for 15-20 minutes until fully done.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
- Adjust cardamom to taste.
- Serve with rice or flatbread.
