Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  7. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden.
  9. Cool on cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

  • For softer cookies, do not overbake.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes for a thicker cookie.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container.
